Why Homeowners Choose Us

We Started in Remodels.
Now We Find What Others Miss.

Mr. Pool Leak Repair grew out of a pool remodel company — which means before we ever diagnosed a leak, we were taking pools completely apart and putting them back together. That's where the depth comes from. We know how every part of a pool is built, which means we know exactly where it fails.

  • We're regularly called in after other companies have already failed to find the leak — and we find it.
  • Our process of elimination diagnostic method delivers accurate results — every time, on every pool.
  • Precision equipment: dye testing, pressure testing, and acoustic detection — used on every job.
  • We test the equipment pad too — not just the shell. Our goal is 100% — your pool stops leaking, full stop. That means we don't leave until we've checked every possible source, including your equipment.
  • For complex structural failures, we collaborate with licensed Texas Professional Engineers.
  • Trusted by licensed home inspectors across DFW during the home buying process.
  • 550+ five-star reviews across DFW — from homeowners, home inspectors, and engineers.

What Happens to That Water in Texas

It doesn't just disappear. In DFW, water escaping under your pool saturates the reactive clay soil beneath your shell and foundation. Over time this causes shell cracks, deck sinking, and in severe cases, foundation movement requiring steel piers at $2,000+ each.

How Long Can You Wait?

A small seal repair caught early is a few thousand dollars. The same leak left for 6–12 months can become a structural crack repair, pier installation, and deck replacement — easily $20,000–$40,000 or more. The water is moving the whole time.

Leak vs. Evaporation
My pool is losing water. How do I know if it's a leak or just evaporation?

This is the most common question we get — and the answer is simple. Some water loss is normal, especially on a hot Texas day. But if you're losing water consistently, the fastest way to check is dead simple: put a piece of tape on your tile line and watch it for 48 hours. On a mild day, that level shouldn't move at all. On a very hot day, a minimal drop is okay. But if the water is clearly dropping below your tape line over two days — that's a leak, not the weather.

✓ Probably Fine Under 2" / week Some evaporation is normal in Texas heat. A small drop over a week, especially in summer, may just be the weather.
⚠ Likely a Leak 2"+ / week Losing 2 inches or more per week is beyond normal evaporation. Put tape on the tile line — if it keeps dropping, call us.

We identify the exact cause of water loss — full system diagnosis and same-day written report on every job.

Repair Costs Explained

What Does It Actually Cost
to Fix a Pool Leak?

Most leaks are a lot more straightforward than people expect. Here are the most common types — and what actually goes into fixing them.

01
Seal repairs — fittings, returns & light niches

The rubber seals around your light fixtures, return jets, and skimmer throat break down over time. Usually no digging required — and simpler than most people expect.

02
Broken pipe under the concrete deck

We use acoustic detection to pinpoint the break before we touch anything. One precise cut, repair the pipe, patch the concrete. No tearing up your whole patio.

03
Spillways, waterfalls & spa overflows

Water features losing water behind the shell instead of back into the pool. Usually a targeted fix at the spillway edge or bond beam — not a full renovation.

The honest truth Most leaks are not what you fear

People brace for a massive bill. Most of the time, that's not what happens. The repair type, cost, and timeline all depend on what we find — and we tell you everything before any work starts.

The thing nobody tells you

The longer a leak goes unfixed, the more the repair costs. Water under your pool washes out soil, which moves your foundation, which cracks your shell — and now you need structural work, not just a seal job. The leak itself is rarely the expensive part. The delay is.

We'll tell you exactly what's leaking and what it costs to fix — before any work starts.

Common Pool Problem

Why Does My Pool Pump
Keep Losing Prime?

Your pump is designed to move water — that's it. The moment air gets into the line, it can't do its job, and it starts working overtime to compensate. Over time that kills the motor.

If you keep priming your pump and it keeps losing it, something is letting air in. Nine times out of ten, that something is a leak.

Most Common Cause

Underground Broken Pipe

A crack or break in the suction line underground doesn't just lose water — it pulls air into the pump every time it runs. The pump can't tell the difference. It just keeps losing prime and you keep wondering why.

Also Common

Failed Equipment Seals & Fittings

Worn o-rings, cracked unions, or loose fittings at the equipment pad are enough to let air sneak in on the suction side. Small gap, big problem.

The Bottom Line

Pumps Are Built for Water, Not Air

Running a pump that's cavitating on air wears it out fast. Fixing the leak protects the equipment. A pressure test on the suction lines tells us exactly where the air is getting in.

A pump losing prime is almost always a leak. We'll find it.

Common Questions

Pool Leak Detection & Repair — FAQ

Answers to the questions DFW homeowners ask us most.

The most reliable method is the bucket test — but there are clear warning signs too. Losing 1 inch of water can mean up to 200 gallons lost in just a few days. Even in Dallas's extreme heat, we have clients who go five months without noticeable water loss.

If you're refilling your pool daily or several times a week, it's time to call a pool leak detection professional.

  • Refilling your pool 1–3 times per week
  • Unexpectedly high water bills
  • Chemical levels constantly going out of balance
  • Recurring green, yellow, or black algae
  • Your pump sucking air
  • Water running into a neighbor's yard or down the alley

If you notice any of these, schedule an inspection with a professional leak detection service immediately.

After 13 years of locating leaks across DFW, most leaks occur at penetration points in the pool shell:

  • Pool light niches
  • Return fittings
  • Main drain buckets
  • Skimmer throats
  • Any area where the pool shell has been penetrated

Builders seal these points with glue, grout, or rubber — but those materials deteriorate over time, especially when exposed to chlorine, acid, or shock. Left unrepaired, leaks at these points can wash out soil, weaken concrete, and lead to foundation movement.

We use several proven technologies:

  • Pressure testing
  • Dye testing
  • Electronic listening / acoustic detection devices
  • Ground probing

But tools are only part of the answer — experience is everything. We're regularly called in after other companies have failed to find the leak using the same equipment. Our "process of elimination leak detection method" consistently delivers accurate results where others can't.

Yes — absolutely. Unrepaired leaks can wash away soil, weaken the pool structure, crack concrete and foundations, and cause underground plumbing damage. If not caught early, repairs can escalate to require:

  • Steel or Teflon staples
  • Epoxy injections
  • Steel pier foundation repair
  • In extreme cases, complete pool removal

We partner with licensed engineers to ensure cracked pools are repaired correctly the first time. Pool staples have a 50% failure rate — which is why we rarely recommend them as a first option.

Leak detection typically costs between $275 and $1,500 depending on the size and complexity of the pool. Detection is the diagnosis — it does not fix the leak.

Repairs range from $250 to $10,000 depending on severity. Our average repair runs around $2,500. We only recommend working with companies that both detect and repair — that's how you actually stop the leak, backed by a warranty.

Typically, no. Insurance doesn't cover leak detection or repairs unless the damage results from a catastrophic event — fire, hail, tornado, or similar. Standard wear, deterioration, and plumbing failure are not covered.

Almost always worth repairing. A new pool in Texas costs upwards of $85,000 — plus financing interest over many months and a 7–9 month build timeline. Older pools are often built to a higher standard than many of today's builds.

Preserving and repairing your existing pool is almost always the smarter, more cost-effective choice.
