Local Pools

Where Coppell Pools Leak

Riverchase, Northlake Woodlands, Pecan Hollow, and Coppell’s other established neighborhoods have plenty of pools from that era.

At that age, the weak spots are usually where the plumbing meets the shell: skimmer throats, return fittings, light niches, and the main drain. Pools with an attached spa have one more, where the spa’s plumbing ties into the pool.

Coppell’s clay soil adds to the wear. It swells with a wet season and tightens back up in a dry one, and after decades of that, those connection points loosen.

Pool Leak Detection and Repair in Coppell

Most Coppell calls start with leak detection. After that, it’s whichever of these the pool needs, and our pool repair page covers each one in more depth.

Service
Leak Detection

We test the pool from the skimmer to the equipment pad and show you where each leak is.

Pool Tile Repair
Skimmer Repair

Skimmer throats on older pools are a regular source of leaks. Resealing often takes care of it, though a cracked body means a new skimmer.

Pool Foundation Repair
Crack Repair

Cracks in an older shell can be surface-deep or structural. A dye test and a close look at whether it's still moving tell us which repair makes sense.

Pool Coping Repair
Underground Pipe Repair

When a buried line fails, acoustic listening narrows down the break, so we open a small access hole rather than digging up the yard.

Dye Test in Dallas
Foundation Leveling

Settling shows up as uneven tile lines and cracks that keep coming back. A licensed Texas engineer lays out the plan, and we stabilize the pool with steel piers.

Concrete Pool Deck
Tile and Coping

Old waterline tile tends to pop loose, and coping cracks as the ground shifts. We replace what's damaged so the edge of the pool is watertight again.

Pumps, Filters, Lights

Our crews work on Pentair, Hayward, and Jandy pumps, filters, and lights, whether the pump's gotten noisy or a light's gone dark.

Pool Demolition and Removal

How We Pinpoint Leaks

Initial Inspection

We start by looking for clues on the surface: damp soil, cracked tile, a wet equipment pad.

Dye Testing

Next, dye goes beside the fittings, lights, drains, and cracks, where escaping water will pull it in.

Pressure Testing

Each line is isolated and put under pressure to see whether it holds.

Acoustic Detection

Acoustic equipment then picks up the sound of the leak underground, and we mark the spot.

Structural Evaluation and Report

Any shell or deck movement is recorded in the report, and structural issues go to a licensed Texas engineer.

Leak Warning Signs

A quarter inch a day is about what evaporation takes in summer. Watch for these on top of that:

  • Needing the hose more than once a week
  • Bubbles in the return jets
  • Algae that won’t stay gone
  • Soggy ground between the pool and the house
  • A water bill higher than it should be
  • Tile or coping pulling away from the pool

The FAQ walks you through the 24-hour tape test.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

My house was built in the '80s. Should I worry about the pool?

Not necessarily, but it’s worth keeping an eye on. Plenty of pools that age hold up fine. When they do leak, it’s usually where the plumbing meets the shell, so that’s where we’d look first.

The cost of finding it is based mostly on the pool’s size and plumbing, and we’ll give you that number before we start. Any repair is quoted after that, and nothing’s done until you agree to it. On average, a repair runs about $2,500.

The 24-hour tape test. Turn the autofill off, put a strip of tape at the water line, and mark the level. Don’t top off the pool for 24 hours, then check the mark. Summer heat accounts for about a quarter inch a day, so if the pool’s dropped more than that, it most likely has a leak.

Every time there’s one. Its lines get the same pressure test as the pool’s, and we check the spot where the spa ties into the pool.

Small seal repairs are often done in one visit. Anything involving buried pipe or piers takes more time, and the schedule comes with your quote.
