Why Colleyville Pools Lose Water
Colleyville did most of its growing between the late ’80s and the 2000s, and neighborhoods like Castleton Manor, Brook Meadows, Leyton Grove, Highland Meadows, and Lakes of Somerset have plenty of pools from those years.
Pools that age tend to leak in the same handful of places: the seal where the skimmer meets the shell, the gaskets around the lights, the return fittings, and the buried lines running out to the equipment.
Colleyville’s got clay in the ground too, and it swells when it’s wet and shrinks when it’s dry. Over enough years, that can crack a pipe joint or open a gap at the skimmer.

Pool Leak Detection and Repair in Colleyville
Almost every job starts with leak detection, and what comes after depends on what it turns up. Our pool repair page has more on each fix.

Leak Detection
We check the skimmers, returns, lights, drains, and every buried line, then show you exactly what's leaking.

Skimmer Repair
The skimmer's one of the first places we look on a pool this age, since the seal around it hardens over time. We'll reseal it, and if the housing's cracked, we'll replace the whole skimmer.

Crack Repair
We'll tell you whether a crack is taking water and whether it's still growing. A stable crack gets sealed, and one that keeps moving usually means the pool needs stabilizing first.

Underground Pipe Repair
The lines between the pool and the equipment pad have been underground for decades. We pressure test each one, find the break, and replace just the damaged length.

Foundation Leveling
If one side of the pool has dropped, a licensed Texas engineer helps us plan the fix, and steel piers carry the pool so it stops settling.

Tile and Coping
A coping stone that wobbles when you step on it, or waterline tile that's cracked, is worth fixing sooner than later. We'll set the coping back in mortar and replace the broken tile.

Pumps, Filters, Lights
Pumps, filters, and lights from Pentair, Hayward, and Jandy are all things we fix. A leaking light niche is a common one on older pools.

Pool Demolition and Removal
If the pool's no longer worth the upkeep to you, we can demolish it and clear the site.
Our Leak Detection Process
Initial Inspection
First we look at the waterline, the deck, and the equipment pad for anything obvious, like a wet spot or a cracked fitting.
Dye Testing
Dye shows us leaks at fittings, lights, drains, and cracks. We release a little next to each one and see whether it drifts or gets drawn in.
Pressure Testing
We plug the lines at the pool and pressurize them from the equipment side, looking for the one that won't hold.
Acoustic Detection
Water leaking from a pressurized pipe makes a hiss we can pick up through the ground with acoustic gear, which keeps the digging to one small hole.
Structural Evaluation and Report
When the shell or deck has moved, we'll show you and get a licensed Texas engineer involved. It all goes in your report.

Warning Signs of a Leak
Some loss is normal. In the heat of summer a pool can drop about a quarter inch a day from evaporation. These point to something more:
- Having to refill the pool every week or more
- A water bill that’s gone up and stayed up
- Chlorine that disappears faster than it used to
- Standing water or a soft spot near the equipment pad
- Cracks in the plaster, tile, or deck
- Bubbles from the returns or air in the pump lid
The FAQ has a simple 24-hour tape test you can try first.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What will leak detection cost?
Pool size and the number of lines are what move the price around, and we’ll tell you what it is before any work starts. Once we know what’s wrong, we’ll price the repair separately. Repairs average about $2,500.
Could it just be evaporation?
It could be. Here’s how to check with the 24-hour tape test: turn off the autofill, put a strip of tape at the waterline, and mark where the water sits. Don’t add any water, and look again after 24 hours. Summer evaporation can take about a quarter inch a day, so if it went down more than that, it’s likely leaking.
Why does my pool lose more water when the pump's running?
Losing water faster with the pump running is one of the signs of a leak. When you call, tell us how fast it drops with the pump on and with it off, and we’ll test from there.
We're buying a house with a pool. Can you check it first?
We can. We’ll test the pool before closing and tell you what’s leaking, if anything, so you know what you’re buying. There’s more on our home buyer inspection page.
If we sell the house, does the warranty go with it?
It can. Send us written notice within 30 days of closing. The pier warranty then runs 5 years from closing, and the pipe and seal warranties carry over for whatever time they have left.
